Alginate is a naturally occurring polysaccharide commonly derived from brown algae cell walls which possesses unique features that make it extremely promising for several biomedical and pharmaceutical purposes. biomaterials are indeed nowadays gaining increasing interest in drug delivery tissue engineering applications owing to their intrinsic biocompatibility, non-toxicity, versatility, low cost, ease of functionalization. Specifically, alginate-based nanostructures show enhanced capabilities with respect alginate bulk materials the targeted drugs chemotherapies, as well helping reparation regeneration. Hence, not surprising number scientific reports related this topic have rapidly grown last decade. With these premises, present review aims provide comprehensive state-of-the-art most recent advances preparation nanoparticles electrospun nanofibers delivery, cancer therapy, After short introduction concerning general properties uses concept nanotechnology, literature then critically presented highlight main advantages nanostructures. Finally, current limitations future perspectives objectives discussed detail.
